This week welcomed the Royal World Premiere of No Time To Die, and it of course did not disappoint. It was yet another remarkable outing for the world’s favourite 00 agent, which hit cinemas screens on September 30th. Bond films are timeless conversation starters, throughout the generations. It is the history and future of film and with that grandeur brings great responsibility for those involved. For Crockett & Jones’ small involvement, that responsibility lies with the hands that make the shoes.
Producing shoes of our quality is no mean feat (there is pun there somewhere). In fact, the planning that goes into all new styles is extensive, let alone a collaboration of this importance.
Embossing a pair of our shoes with three numbers, the most recognisable numbers in cinematic history, 007, makes everyone involved sit up and take note. Workmanship, skill, and attention to detail are the order of Q branch! Thankful for our involvement in James Bond over the past decade, honour and pride is rife within the walls of our Northampton factory.
The manufacture of high quality Goodyear welted shoes remains labour-intensive. It requires a highly skilled workforce to carry out more than 200 separate operations during an 8 week period. Good things come to those who wait.
The process of Goodyear welting gives our shoes an exceptional degree of strength, durability and comfort in wear. The factory spans several departments, each necessitating a multitude of different skills and experiences to ensure the shoes are completed to our exacting standards. Many of those operations, rely on excellent hand-eye co-ordination, take years to learn and sometimes a lifetime to master.
Paying homage to our world-renowned wholecut oxford, James represents something different all together, a silhouette of sophistication. A shoe of the highest order, our staff have left nothing on the table. Staying true to our signature Hand Grade specification, you will find calf linings, full calf in-sock and our channel stitched leather sole. Only choosing the smallest skins with the tightest break from the finest European tanneries, the black box calf on show is faultless, and perfectly highlights the contours of Last 348. The final finish can be likened to shoes of old.
Presented in limited edition 007 packaging, JAMES comes with a chrome shoe horn, shoe brush and a pair of fully lasted, hand-made shoe trees, all embossed with the 007 logo.
